Cell Phone (I.C.E.)

Recently, the concept of "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) is catching on. It is simply an important method of contact during emergency situations.

Cell phones are carried by the majority of the population.  With "ICE" all you need to do is enter I C E as the name of the contact person, followed by their telephone number.  Should Emergency Service personnel have to use your cell phone during an emergency, they will know exactly who they are able to contact to provide you with assistance.

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that at the scene of an accident, there were always cell phones with patients, but they didn't know who to contact or which number to call.

The paramedic believed that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this practice, hence the creation of ICE.
Following a disaster in London, the East Anglican Ambulance Service has launched a national "In Case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign. You can visit their site here, http://www.eastanglianambulance.com/default.asp

Please update your phone information.  It only takes a moment!!..
In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff will be able to quickly contact your next of kin simply by dialing the number stored as "ICE".

Please pass this on. It won't take too long before everybody will know about this.  It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3
etc. A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our cell phones today!
